Neptune’s Daughter has surfaced from the depths of the seven seas. I have designed her as a hanging doll. Her fish tailed body is contoured in shimmering panne with a medium stretch “skin” fabric pieced in. Her head is made in four pieces with a centre front profile seam, hidden under a layer of stretched fabric. Her face has some needle sculpting and is hand-drawn and coloured in fine pen and pencil to mimic the colours of the oceans. She has hand-dyed mohair for hair and her gown is made from panne tendrils that wrap around her and hang off her like seaweed. She has gusset joints at the elbows, and her fingers are wired. Her dress is adorned with strings of pearls and metal charms collected through the seas of her travels. Neptune’s Daughter is a 48cm (19in) hanging cloth doll.
