Holly is the 23cm (9in) little fairy who comes to visit those in the Northern Hemisphere around Christmas. Here in the Blue Mountains she appears in the middle of the year in Winter. We have adopted her for our Christmas festivities because of her red and green traditional colours, but she makes a welcome contribution to the fairy tradition at any time of year. She wears red tights and her leaf skirt is made up of panels shaped to reflect the real ones only without the prickle! Her wings are stiffened, cut and machine edged, with veins of gold stitching. Her arms and legs are stitched in place with tiny beads. Her face is hand drawn and coloured, and her hair is made from hand dyed mohair tied up with ribbon. She wears her red berries around her waist.
